Students and Staff

Young students come from all Europe, forming a group of 40 people approx. sorted into similar groups based on age and language level, both during lessons and activities. During the summer season there are also Italian youngsters who can join the activities during the day. The presence of qualified supporting staff is generally 1 every 7/10 participants.

Skills and activities

In our Centre, English and Italian are spoken throughout the day, during meals as well as during evening entertainment. Native qualified teachers take care of the academic components with an exclusive methodology, getting the students to use English and Italian languages while participating in many activities (sports, arts & crafts, and leisure). During the day the following different language learning guideline is observed: - a continuous full immersion: all members of staff speak and communicate with the students in English and Italian all the time - 6 hours a day of lessons, recreational sport activities or art activities in English and Italian divided into 4 sections (each one for 1 hour and a half) supervised by 4 different mother tongue teachers -all activities have a theoretical part which focuses on the vocabulary related to the children’s activities and a practical part. All follow a common thread and are linked to each other - constant repetition of simple concepts connected with a couple of habitual idiomatic expressions in real-life situations throughout the day by all Baby Lou staff, so that it leads to a strong learning by example (repetitive use in different contests). Examples of sports activities at this Centre are: tennis, swimming, water aerobics, volleyball, basketball, table-tennis, five-a-side soccer, aerobics, rafting, competitions. Examples of recreational activities are: arts & crafts, treasure hunt, karaoke, film night, pajama-party, theatre...

Meals

Particularly noteworthy are the healthy, natural, and hearty chef’s dishes. Home cooking is one of the best traditions of Umbria: pasta, bread, pizza, mostly cooked in the hotel kitchen. Fruits and vegetables are locally produced, even from organic farms. There are 4 daily meals, including snacks. Special needs are held in high regard, including different and special dietary requirements, such as celiac disease. Cake is included at every birthday!!!
